I'm Eris.

A little about me.

Hello! I'm Eris. I do plenty of things, and would consider some of these things my hobbies. I'm a photographer (see the photo above!). I take a ton of pictures of nature with my phone, pretty much whatever I end up passing by on a given day. My phone storage keeps getting full because of this though :(((

I'm also a musician, and have been since around 2017. I've worked on several DAWs, both on a website and actual applications, including but not limited to FL Studio (for most of my career), Ableton, Reaper (briefly), and also Logic Pro X, thanks to the resources provided at Fairhaven.

Additionally, I've been deeply involved in technology since 2020 or so, driven by the pandemic giving me extra time to learn the ins and outs of tech. Since 2020, I've built three computers; two desktops, and one Raspberry Pi 5 with a linuxOS distribution. I made my second desktop with spare parts from my main desktop!

I've been working with operating systems for a while, effectively since I started messing with computers, and I have gotten pretty well-versed with the function of operating systems, mainly Windows 10, Windows 11, and a couple linux distros (Debian, Raspbian, Arch, and Mint).

Music, photography, and tech have been my longstanding hobbies, with me also getting into linguistics as of around 2021. I've come to know a lot about linguistics, especially thanks to the free time allotted at my favourite school, Fairhaven School.

I've gotten to level of proficiency with languages that I can reliably distinguish nearly all languages in Europe from one another (minus relatively obscure ones such as Basque), and I'm currently working on learning Finnish as a third language, as I plan to emigrate to Finland. It's a slow process, but I'm getting there surely.

Hello. My name is Eris. I have a few months of experience networking; I have a tailscale account which I have set-up to utilise my Raspberry Pi 5 as an effective homeserver for hosting the website you're reading this on.

I will admit, I am still mostly a beginner at networking, as this project is pretty much my first finished one regarding networking and website-related itinerary, but am very willing to learn.

I have actively worked on computers (both hardware and software) for about six years total (since 2020), only becoming proficient at working with most of the components of a working desktop around 2023.

I would say most of my productive focus since 2020 has been set towards tech-related things, and has become one of my passions that I've gotten proficient and decently well-versed in.

When building computers and/or setting them up, I find that something I focus on is the end result, and the steps I take or should take to get there. When setting up my Raspberry Pi 5 with a webserver, my main intention with that was to create a website I could host my own personal things on. And, in doing this, it taught me the steps that it would take to create and host a server.

When working on personal projects of mine, I'm more of a big picture person initially; I work on the whole scope/framework of what I'm trying to do first and then only when that is finished, do I move onto polishing out smaller details and making them look or function as well as I believe they should.

Hobbies!

I have at least a couple hobbies, I'd like to believe anyways.

I'm a photographer, a musician since 2017, I play a couple instruments well (piano & drums), and I also have multiple years of experience dealing with computers, mainly software (and sometimes hardware).
